Attendance, Cancellation, and Illness Policy
Política de Asistencia, Cancelaciones y Enfermedades
Last updated: July 25, 2026
To support consistent progress and effective therapy sessions, the following policies help ensure scheduling runs smoothly for all families receiving in-home occupational therapy services.
Attendance
Regular attendance is important for your child to make meaningful progress. Families are expected to attend scheduled sessions and be ready for therapy at the scheduled start time.
Because therapy occurs in the home, please ensure:
- An adult caregiver is present for the duration of the session
- The child is awake, dressed, and ready to participate
- A safe and appropriate space is available for therapy activities
If you anticipate being late or unavailable at the scheduled time, please notify the therapist as soon as possible. Sessions will still end at the originally scheduled time in order to maintain the therapist’s schedule.
Cancellation Policy
Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session.
- 24+ hours notice: Session may be rescheduled when possible.
- Less than 24 hours notice: Considered a late cancellation.
- No-show: If the therapist arrives and the family is unavailable or the session was not canceled in advance, the visit will be considered a missed session.
Because in-home therapy requires travel time, repeated late cancellations or missed visits may result in reduced scheduling flexibility or reassessment of ongoing services.
Illness Policy
For the health and safety of all families and the therapist, please cancel sessions if your child or anyone else in the household is experiencing symptoms of illness, including:
- Fever within the past 24 hours
- Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
- Persistent cough or significant congestion
- Contagious illnesses (pink eye, strep throat, flu, etc.)
- Any illness that would normally keep your child home from school or daycare
Sessions may resume once the child has been symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication, or as advised by a healthcare provider.
Communication
Please communicate cancellations, illness, or schedule changes as soon as possible using the therapist’s preferred contact method (text, call, or email).
Therapist Illness, Travel Delays, or Emergencies
If the therapist becomes ill, experiences travel delays, or has an emergency, families will be notified as soon as possible and the session will be rescheduled.
